How prolonged should we wait for until we try refinancing a automobile loan as well as where is a great place to go? Refi as soon as the credit score starts to rise, then refi again if it goes up over 30 points. Thats what I did when I had problems a few years ago.

I’ve had good luck here…

Best of luck to you.

you won’t. your car is worth less than you owe. You would have not enough collateral, unless you put something else up in addition to the car, to get a new loan. Credit is tight, hence the 18% rate. Smart thing to do is sell the car, and get something you can afford, if it is still possible.

Your credit is just part of the puzzle when lenders look at your refinance application. Refinance as soon as you are comfortable. The less you pay on the 18% interest loan the better. You applications should be free, and if you aren’t getting deals you like, or are turned down, then just wait a little longer.

Good places to go include local credit unions and an auto refinance broker like RateGenius. Best of luck!!

Its just that car loans lately been difficult to get recently. The online places are good and I have heard the are more flexible.
