The automobile you paid for is a great seeking car..on a outside..but a inside is a total opposite story. you paid for it from a used automobile lot you theory you can say. Whenever you spin upon a AC, it creates this shrill sound which you can usually listen to if you have been outward of a car, not inside.
I went to 3 places today….they both took a demeanour during a automobile as good as there is no radiator support!!! a radiator is genuine lax as good as additionally there is no await underneath a car..it all rusted away. The chairman which you paid for it from was a mechanic, so he pronounced which there have been no automatic problems. LIAR! you adore this car, it drives good though you am fearful which if you am pushing it, a radiator along with alternative things competence only tumble off in a center of a road!! My hold up is upon a line here. Should you lapse a automobile given you paid for it as is or should you go half upon a check to get it fixed?

What is a Lemon Law in NJ for cases similar to these? Please help!

In NJ a used car from a licensed dealer must pass inspection. If you bought it as-is, and signed paperwork to that effect, you have no recourse. Did you sign "state approved" papers that say the car was sold for parts? If not, you may have a claim with the state.

If the "dealer" was unlicensed, I would go to your town hall and report them as an unlicensed dealer.

If he is just a mechanic, just tell him you want it fixed to a safe driving condition. No "halfsies".

Lemon laws cover new cars under certain conditions, not used cars. Used cars are sold "AS IS" unless you get a written warranty at the point of sale. Anything a salesperson tells you means absolutely nothing unless it’s written down in the papers you signed.

If you had the car looked at by your mechanic before buying it, do you think they would have seen the problems? Why didn’t you have it inspected? Sorry, as is, and all yours now.

There is no Lemon Law for that. You’ll have to ask the "dealer" to fix it, but most likely you’ll be fixing it yourself, as it’s surely an as-is sale.

Lemon laws don’t apply unless your bought a car with some manufacturer’s warranty left. Even then it might not apply, depending your state lemon laws.

Used cars are sold "as-is" and there are no laws that allow you to return the car should you discover problems. The best time to find out about problems is BEFORE you buy. Never take the word of a seller about the condition of a used car.

I’m so sorry that happened to you hon.
I know you were happy when you got this.
You know…
1) one thought i have is IFyou had to bail out on it, you could get something that’s better on gas mileage( a Geo Metro gets wonderful gas mileage…although you’d have no power steering or power brakes, and no ac ((youd have to really give one a good test drive, to know if you could be ok with it.))

2)if you have a garage you get your cars repaired at regularly, and have learned you can trust, have THEM check out a car before you buy one (they’d have spotted such a thing, or would be supposed to)

3)what if all you need to do is put a support on the radiator and youre actually ok?
It sounds like that could be the thing. Did you ask these places you took it to if that would be the way to go, in their opinion?

There may not be much wrong otherwise.

DID you have them look over the rest of the car.. inspect it?
Get an opinion on that?
The car’s condition overall?

So maybe you should just bring it to where you got it, and use the warranty to pay to fix this.

4) I gave you a link for NJ lemon law info, but generally Nik, the car has to suffer a LONG SERIES of things falling apart before it counts as a "lemon".

5)If you really feel bad about the car, call the attorney general’s office, find out how long you have in your state that you can just cancel the deal and not buy it after all(like if you bring it back within 10 days and say no thanks.)? is there a thing like that in your state? what is the time limit?

But…depending on what the mechanics say, i mighjt just make the dealer fix it under warranty, and keep driving it

Though youre the one that knows if it’s truly no good to you.

Good luck, Hope it helped a little

Used car = no lemon law. Here’s where you screwed up – you should have had the mechanic look at it before you bought it. Welcome to the world of buying used cars. You have no legal right to return the car, and the seller has no legal responsibility to help you pay for repairs.
