50/50 is pretty close (see link below). Having said that, there are other factors which increase or decrease the likelihood. For example, do either of you have proven fertility? What is your age? You’ll know more after the surgery, in terms of whether or not they saw swimmers, if they had to do a VE or VV, etc.
