Hi, my husband has had 2 reversals. His orignially had his vasectomy in around 2002/3. His first reversal in 2005 failed as he had scar tissue form, it did initially work for around 5 months so we were devestated when it then failed.

In 2007, he went to a specialist centre in Hartlipool (UK) with Dr Andrew Dawson who performs microsurgery and it worked straight away. He now has more sperm than the average male! Dr Dawson has a high success rate and is very nice. He got rid of all the scar tissue and it worked 4/5 years post vasectomy. I can’t recommend him highly enough.

Unfortunately and ironically, it is me now that had problems. I have endometriosis and have been referred for IVF so just waiting…

Good luck with your situation.

It sounds a bit round about.

go for it i had the operation and became pregnant almost immediatly

Years ago I read that the Japanese were doing vasectomies using super glue. This I thought was a brilliant idea as it could be reversed quite easily. Now how true it was I’ve no idea and to be perfectly honest I don’t know the stats, but I hope it is successful where you are concerned.

I have never considered one as I am child-free, and never want children. However about three years ago I wrote a paper on the subject, for my writing class. You are not going to like what I have to say.

Often the quotes given as “success rates” are very misleading. Any surgery that results in live, motile sperm is called a “success”. However such a “success” is a long way from having a baby. Usually a pregnancy takes at least two years after the surgery, and that is with IVF.

I took an interest because my ex-girlfriend worked in a clinic where they performed vasectomy reversal. The doctor was in the business of selling “false hope” at a very high price.
