First of all why are you on that type of diet??? The foods that you need to avoid are the ones that are greasy, spicy, fried, soda with caffiene and fruits that contain citric acid like tomatoes, oranges, grapefruits etc. Also dont eat late at night. You can try sleeping on multiple pillows or elevating the head of your bed with a book. I have suffered from acid reflux for years and I’m a nurse and I have never heard of the tyoe of diet you are on for acid reflux. As far as the nausea I usually eat a few saltines and it seems to help. The reason it gets worse when you are in track is probably because exercising increases peristalsis (digestion) and therefore more stomach acid is produced. To control mine I take Zantac 150mg twice a day in the morning and evening and use Gaviscon for breakthoughs. But be careful not to take too many Gaviscon or Tums because this can "dilute" your systwm and disrupt your pH balance. I don’t know why you say antacids are bad for you as long as they are used correctly there are no long term side effects. Hope this helps!
I use over the counter Gaviscon when I feel symptoms and it works really well.
I have the same problem and find Rennie tablets to be much more effective than zantac ( that my Dr gave me )
I grew up with really bad acid reflex, like severe heartburn everyday. It took a lot of doctors trips to make it go away. I am currently on double the recommended dose of previcid to keep it under control. If I only take it in the morning, and not at night, the symptoms will come back before I sleep.
Its possible that your acid reflex is just that severe. A stronger dose of the medicine would help.
Also, I hope you are seeing a specialist. A regular family doctor will, most often, not know the proper way to help you. If you are not seeing a specialist, I recommend that you ask your parents if they can take you to see a gastronologist. They will be able to help you much more.
As someone who knows what you are going through, I hope it works out for you.
Hang in there!!!
I also suffer from major acid reflux. It was so bad that the doctor recommend I have surgery for it. I had the Nissen Fundoplication for it. I still take a lot of meds to control it (even after surgery) I take 2 Nexium 4 times a day, a heart doctor put me on GI Cocktails (meds I drink at home for instant relief) (had a heart doctor because with the bad chest pain associated with it the ER doctor thought I might be having a heart attack!) My doctor also had me raise the head of my bed 6", this has helped a lot too.
You are on the right path diet wise, I recommend you see a specialist for this. Believe it or not the doctor that took care of me & diagnosed me correctly was a lung doctor ( I have problems).
Best of luck and I agree with an earlier post that your meds probably need to be doubled up.
Here’s a link to the surgery I had:

It’s relatively common to need to use Prilosec twice a day. If that’s not helping, ask your doctor about Prevacid or a different dosage of Prilosec. He might also recommend Nexium, but I find Prevacid works very well.
There’s nothing wrong with using an antacid occasionally, but if you can prevent the problem with diet and Prevacid, it’s better.
If you are a heartburn sufferer and has used counter medication before, then maybe this is the right time for you to try natural heartburn remedies. I am sure you don’t want to consume medicine every time you experience it. If the medicine is overused, it can cause side effects to your body. These natural remedies not only will stop heartburn, it also can bring prevention and relief over the long term.
If you choose to use natural heartburn remedy, some changes are needed in your life. As the sample, if you are a smoker, it needs your commitment to quit smoking. Cigarettes contain nicotine and it has a detrimental effect on the esophagus and causes burning sensation.
It also requires change in diet, too. There are so many foods that cause heartburn. Avoid fatty and spicy foods. Avoid rich or creamy foods or desserts that include lots of cream. Chocolate is also a possible cause of this digestion problem.
It is believed that stress can cause heartburn directly and indirectly. Try to relax your body and mind through relaxation or meditation techniques.
If you have ever tried to lying down as soon as have your meal, you will get heartburn attacking you immediately. So, avoid it. Try to have your last meal of the day at least two hours before bedtime. For some people, raising the head of the bed a few inches will help them to enjoy a good night’s rest. This position helps to keep acid from flowing out of the stomach into the esophagus.
The other natural remedy you can use is Aloe Vera plant. It is available in juice, capsule or gel form. Do not take Aloe Vera gel directly from the plant because it can be contaminated with the latex. Your stomach will be improved and stop you from getting heartburn if you consume Aloe Vera regularly.
Although there is no scientific research about these natural heartburn remedies, I believe this is worth trying. If you have any doubt, you can consult to your doctor.
