Contact each creditor and provide them with evidence of the error, it’s usually easiest to fax this to them. Wait a day or 2 and call back to confirm they have it and ask them to provide you with documentation expressing that this was an error and that it should be removed or changed on your credit report and confirm they will have the info removed. Send all of these documents to the credit bureaus expressing what changes need to be made and that the creditors will remove the items but you are providing evidence in order to help get a rescore.
This will be a long and drawn out process. if you want to quicken talk to a mortage broker and explain to them the situation they can help with getting these documents and since they work with their own credit company to pull credit reports they can get a rapid rescore done through them if your in a hurry, however this will be costly about $90 per tradeline. A broker would be willing to help since they know you’ll be refinancing afterwards.

It sounds like you need to get with a mortgage broker or a credit analyst to go over your credit reports with you. There are different factors that will impact your credit scores, including your bill payment history, when was your last late payment, what percentage of your credit lines have you used, and the mix of credit types you have ( how many credit cards, mortgage, installment credit), to name a few. If you need to refi your home, you not only need to get your credit scores up, but you also need to look at your debt-to-income ratio. That is, how much debt you owe in proportion to how much money you make. I can get much more detailed, but a consultation would be better to get all the facts and figures for you.

Back to the credit, you can dispute items on your credit reports to get negatives removed and raise your credit scores. You can do this on your own, if you are willing to do a little legwork and research how to put together a dispute letter to the credit bureaus. Or you can find a good firm to help you with the dispute process. To get more credit improvement info visit my website http://www.ecreditfixers.com. Contact me and I would be happy to give you some additional info on how you can get qualified for your refi faster.

No. Credit reporting agencies are required to report what the creditors tell them. Under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) the steps are to notify the creditor that they have made an inaccurate report and send a copy to the reporting agency of your communication. Please communicate with the creditor in writing.

It’s all explained here: http://www.ehow.com/how_2250756_contact-credit-reporting-agencies-online.html

Hope that helps!
