My husband had a VR. It worked. We didn’t ttc for over a year after the reversal but when we did, I became pg on the third cycle of ttc. Someone posted (in your other question) that it takes around a year to up to two years to become pg after a VR. That is typical. Some become pg much sooner, a few even on the first or second cycle. One thing you should realize is that it takes around 75 days for sperm to be produced and work its way through "the pipes" to be ejaculated. So much of the sperm that is there at 60 days post-vr is still the "vasectomized" sperm. It is often dismantled and dead because the man’s body cannibalized it while he was vasectomized. It also was under extreme pressure (caused by the build-up of sperm) and is not healthy at all. Plus it takes awhile for the male body to pick up sperm production again as if often has waned if the man had the vasectomy for any amount of time. So it takes some time before you will likely become pg. I would suggest getting a SA around 12 wks post just to make sure that the reversal has worked. If no sperm are seen at that time a round of prednisone should be used to help reduce any residual surgical inflammation. (Things that usually are prescribed post-op can be an antiboitic, an anti-inflammatory such as aleve, and a short dose of pain reliever. Also taking vitamin E has been shown to help healing while reducing scarring.) I hope this info has help.
20% at best. I know two men that had so called reversals. Both reported that it was very painful, and did not work.
