My suggestion is that you look for a lower priced doctor in the US. I live in the US and my hubby got his VR in Minnesota for $7000. Most doctors in the US charge between $5000 to $7000 for the VR sugery. There is a well known VR doctor in Texas and a VR doctor in Oklahoma as well who do the surgery for less than $2000. There is a good VR doctor in Washington state who does it for $4800 I believe. Shop around, look at their websites, review their statistics of success and ask for references. Also join a good support site and cyber share concerns and questions with those who’ve been through the process. Since the vasectomy was less than 3 years ago, your SO has a 97% chance of return of sperm and you have a 76% chance of pg. GL

The less time between the vasectomy and the vasectomy reversal, the higher the rate of a successful reversal. The success of the procedure will also depend on the skill of the doctor performing the surgery.

The procedure costs around $5,000, but the cost will depend on the doctor. It is important to select a doctor that performs the procedure regularly and has high success rates.

did you go to the doctor and get a referral?? if you do this and it is signed by the doctor then the insurance will probably cover you…..try it…..my sister had to do this for physical therapy.

Yeah, insurance company’s here suck!!!
They won’t pay for it cause it is not considered a "health issue", and it also sends them a clear message that you want to have a child, which means more claims against your insurance that they will have to cover!
As for traveling outside of the country to get this done, by the time you book airfare, lodging, meals, and pay for the surgery it’s self you may end up spending close to 10k anyway!

Today, eggs are fertilized in a dish for people with just this situation, it’s called invitro fertilization (I hope the spelling is correct). This procedure is not just for bypassing vasectomy’s, it is also a way to screen eggs that may be suspect for women who are high risk for passing on certain diseases.

As medical science advances, it finds new ways and reasons to control birth. There is now procedure to determine gender in babies. No more guessing. This should work great amongst the Chinese. Now they can have a whole country of just guys. H’mmmm, what’s wrong with that picture !

Seriously, I would go with the adoption angle myself. I had one just about 7 years ago, so I’m at the very end of that window where it might, MIGHT work to reverse it. There is no guarantee that a reversal surgery wold work (at least there wasn’t when I had mine done!). Then you pay $$$ and hope it works, and if it doesn’t you pay $$$ for adoption. Why pay $$$$$$ if you could just pay $$$?
Just my thoughts.

ten thousand what? Do you know that we use dollars in the US?

ten-thousand Peru dollares or pesos is like what? $100?

I don’t mean to be mean but I know a lady I worked with in California and she went back to her country (Peru) just to get a tummy tuck, Liposuction and a boob lift. It cost her $3000 US Dollars. She was able to recover with family so that saved her but to get taht done in the USA would cost her in the 14,000 dollar range.

Doctors in the USA cost an arm and a leg and sometimes a pen!s. Especially without medical insurance. Medical insurance usually won’t cfover this because it was elective in the first place.

Good luck. It would be easier to adopt.

Of course they won’t pay for it. Santa Claus does not work for an insurance company. Look at the business case. You pay something like 1500 a year for health insurance. They will have to fork out 10 grand for the surgery. There is only a 25% chance that sometime in the next two years they will have to fork out another 10 grand for a delivery room, and even more for pre and post natl care.

Yes you read that right, the chance of success is about 25%.

Another thing you should know is most of the clincs outside the USA are fraudulent. They will sell you on the surgery and offer you financing. Then they will just steal your idenity.

BTW: You realize that the 10 grand for the vasectomy reversal is "chump change" compared to the chost of having a baby??

I can sum this up in one word – Adopt!
