If it's not a "Lemon" vehicle and you purchase "AS-IS" and the car goes bad, then there is no recourse. If the car has a "Lemon" title on it and it was not disclosed, then you may have a leg to stand on by calling the DMV dealership investigation department and reporting the dealership that sold you the lemon.
