healthplans.bebto.com – here is my health insurance plan. As I remember they can provide such a service.

No not one will do that because the vasectomy was your own choice

If the person worked for a company that has group coverage on their employee’s – that should cover most of it.

I am in the process of gathering information for such a thing. My insurance states that they will cover sterilization but not reversal. The argument I plan to offer is that I do not wish to have more children, I really do not as that was the purpose of the vasectomy in the first place. The reason I wish a reversal is the months of pain and lack of sensation I developed after the vas. I have had additional surgery since to relieve the pain (only partially successful) After reading some of the medical literature (only too late) I discovered that the consent form was totally inadequate in warning me (and many guys) of the potential complications of the procedure. It is really a crime that they do not offer more thorough pre vasectomy counseling (In reality it is nothing more than a sales pitch. My argument is that there is sufficient medical literature out there to show the potential consequences of the procedure that if I had read them I would have grabbed my testicles and ran out of the doctors office. NOT ONE WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION by the Urologist. And the one about "chronic pain" was downplayed as "Never really happens" when recent studies show it to be at least 15% according to a study in the British Journal Urology

Vasectomy reversal is usually not covered for return of fertility.

Under special circumstances with the help of a physician letter, sometimes reversal for chronic post-vasectomy pain is covered. This unfortunate complication of vasectomy affects about 2 to 5% of men severely enough for them to consider reversal. See the links below:

Dr. Tony is right. If you want a reversal for fertility purposes, no insurance plan is going to cover it.

My reversal was covered because it was deemed medically necessary, and that required supplying the insurance company with a ton of research and a peer-to-peer consult between my physician and one of theirs.
