It really depends on what you have done to re establish your credit in the past 8 years. The most you can do is go into the bank and file for the home equity loan and go from there. Your bankruptcy will show on your credit report for 10 years from the date of your discharge. But, depending on your income, debts and payment history since, it may be possible to get the loan, but…they can tell you that after looking at your information, but…yes…it can be done. Good Luck!

Yes. If you file Ch. 7 bankruptcy then it only takes 6 months to re-establish your credit. If you filed for Ch. 13 then it takes 3 to 5 years to re-establish your credit.
