You signed up on the screen in the settings section, right? if you got a credit card, that should be all they need.
You just get a prepaid AT&T SIM card and put it in there. But it has to be a microSIM like used in the iPhone 4. But there is a video on YouTube that explains how to cut it into a microSIM.
