Not all vasectomy reversals are successful. It depends a lot on how long it has been since the original vasectomy and the original vasectomy type.

If the vasectomy was less than 3 years ago reversal rates are nearly 100%, but pregnancy rates are only 76%. After 15 years reversal rates are still 70% but pregnancy rates drop to only 30%. The time taken to produce any possible pregnancy will of course vary. Only 60% of fertile women who have regular unprotected intercourse with a fertile, non-vasectomised man will become pregnant after a year.
