My dad had a vasectomy after having his first two children in his first marriage. One he met my mum he had it reversed (this was between 1986-1988 so it was not as advaced as modern day I’m guessing) & he has had two children since then (me & my brother) before having it done again.
There was actually a bit about it i the paper.. I was the first waterbirth in the UK (I’m famous! =P) & they mentioned it in the article.
I know two guys that had reversals. It is very expensive, and painful. Neither were successful. Odds of success are about 30%,
I only ever talked to one person that was successful.
Why not adopt?
I work in a fertility clinic. We do medically necessary abortions, sterilizations, assisted pregnancy etc. I am an administrative assistant. We have three part-time surgeons that work in our clinic. Our doctors see patients that want vasectomy reversals a lot. We just give them referrals. One of the surgeons told me that they used to, but they stopped, because the success rate was very low. Usually the patient as allowed to make installments, but would not pay any more after the surgery was unsuccessful. Non payment is hard to handle when you consider the fact that we are a clinic and our services are only 20% above cost. Many of our patients are on Cal-Care and we have to accept what they pay. As you may have guessed it is hard to stay in business when a few people don’t pay thier bills.
I suggest you adopt. A vasectomy reversal is going to cost 10 grand. The success rate is very low. You still have to pay if it does not work.
My friend married a man who is 10yrs older than her and had had a vasectomy, she was desperate for children, so he went in for a reversal operation, he was told that it may not be successful given factors such as his age (he was in his mid forties) and the length of time he’d had the vasectomy,,,,, however he went ahead had the op and within a short space of time she was pregnant, she now has 2 children and is delighted with the outcome….
He had the op done on the NHS for FREE….
Good luck……….
