Depending on the type of laser that’s used, it COULD possibly remove the tattoo. Ask your specific laser technician what the actual laser they use is (for instance, a Medlite C6 will remove hair AND the tattoo – and both hair and tattoo will take several procedures though).

They will usually be able to tell you if the specific laser will handle both hair removal as well as tattoo removal. If so, you may want to find another technician with a different type of laser that will not do damage to the tattoo.

Another option is to have the hair removed by electrolysis. Approximately the same amount of pain each way, usually the same amount of procedures, and it won’t affect your tattoo.

it might fade but it would not dissapear. tattoos are permanent unless you get the proper tattoo removal treatment and even then sometimes you can still see the remnants of the tattoo.

Not necessarily.
I’m pretty sure that Sonya has it pretty much covered with her answer, but I’ll just add my 2 cents too.
Depending on the type of laser used, your tattoo could be affected.
I’ve seen pictures (I wish I could find them now) of a tattoo that got a few blasts of laser during a hair removal process, and there is a noticeable difference between where the laser hit, and the rest of the tattoo.

Your best bet is to talk to the people at the place where you’re having the laser hair removal done, and get answers from them. If they don’t know if their laser could damage your tattoo, look for another place that knows for a fact that their laser won’t harm your ink.

Best of luck.
